I really had no idea what to write about for my second blog entry, (off to an auspicious start, eh?). But then I got to thinking that I doubt anyone is reading this thing anyway. So what they hey! I'm going to write about something that I'm actually rather excited about. In July, my high school class is having it's 20th reunion. I am officially an old fart. I don't know how it happened, but it did. I have white hairs in my beard, silver at my temples, and just the other day I yelled at some kids to get off my lawn!! And I don't even have a lawn!
Also, I'm now going to bed at 9pm. Granted, it's because I've been having to get back up at midnight to work for a couple hours, but it still hurts to think about.
"Your only as old as you feel!" people like to tell us. Well I'd like to tell all those people where to go, because sometimes I feel like jello that's been left in the fridge just a few weeks too long. Sometimes I feel like I'm 18 again and do something stupid, like try to keep up with 20 year olds playing football. I usually come back to my senses during my recovery and doctor ordered bed rest.
OH!!! One more little tidbit that I'm going to gripe about!!!! The frickin' AARP people keep sending me invitations to join them! I'm not that old!!!!! Really people, I've got another good 12 years before I qualify, let me wallow in that small solace for at least another 5!
OK, enough griping. I still eat dinner at the reasonable hour of 7:30ish, so I'm not completely lost or ready for the old folks home and their 4:30 blue plate specials.
What I really wanted to say here, is this: I've been getting back in touch with friends from high school. And actually made friends with a few classmates I never really knew back then. I can honestly say, I'm very excited about going back home and reconnecting this summer. I'm finally going to be able to show my wife Wisconsin (the most beautiful state in the nation 6 months out of the year), at a point of beauty. She's only been there in April before, and she was not impressed with the melting slush and drizzle.
Anyway, that's my rant for the day. Everyone enjoy your weekend. I haven't decided if I'll be posting during that time or not, we'll see.
