It’s a whopping 39 degrees this morning in Southern California. I can imagine the kinds of horrific end of the world type stories I’m going to hear from the natives when I get in to work.
Sure, I know it’s all relative, and people here aren’t used to real cold weather. I do have to laugh, though, when I hear about how it “could have snowed” at 39 degrees.
I’ve spent almost 12 years out here now. That’s longer than I’ve lived anywhere in my life. By default, then, I should consider myself a Californian. But I just can’t seem to relinquish my 5 years in Wisconsin. I’m a Midwesterner, dammit. I KNOW what cold weather is. And 39 degrees in late December is a nice balmy day.
I spoke to my father the other day. -30 in Minnesota where he lives. Until we even approach a nice average 0, I’m going to hold tight to my Wisconsinite card and not even think about putting on a hat or a pair of gloves!
Take care all, and bundle up!! :)
